    PERSONALITY:
Amycus Carrow is an uncaring douchebag. The number of people he can bother himself with giving a shit about is so limited that most people don't believe it extends to anyone other than Alecto. He cannot stand the vast majority of students at Hogwarts, however, and it shows. Because Amycus has never bothered a day in his life to pretend to like those that he doesn't. Why should he? It's a waste of effort and, should he put forth the effort, there's not a single benefit to doing so. He's much quicker to dismiss someone as a potential friend than to accept their friendship. If you prove yourself untrustworthy once, he'll never trust you a second time. He won't even pretend to trust you. He'll tell you flat out that you've lost his trust (although, truthfully, if you ever had it in the first place, it's an impressive feat) and more than likely, his ability to give a shit about you as well.

With the people that he cares about, Amycus is capable of being affectionate. He actually quite enjoys hugging the people that matter to him. Oddly enough, he's rather cuddly with the select few that successfully manage to become friends with him. Privately, of course, as it would be rather disreputable to be seen as softer and cuddlier than a viper. If you've made it into his circle of friendship, he would quite literally kill for you. He would destroy another's reputation, relationship, or life for you. He might not tell you every secret thought to cross his mind, but he'll protect you. He'll have your back until you don't have his.

School isn't something that Amycus is interested in. It's not as though he isn't smart enough for it, he is, but he can't be fucked to care about it. If he can't be fucked to care about it, he doesn't see the point in doing it. Which is precisely why he has all of four classes, all classes that are rather important in his point of view. He doesn't know what he'll be doing with his life, but he figures he'll be fine. After all, he's rich and he's smart enough to take care of it should the problem of money ever arise. Preferably, however, he won't be taking on a job at all. He'd much rather find a girl he can stand, impregnate her a few times, and perhaps travel rather frequently.

It didn't surprise a single person who knew him when Amycus was sorted into Slytherin. He's a rather close fit to the stereotypical Slytherin, after all. He's an asshole, he's an elitist, and he's rather soured on the idea of true, trustful friendships. However, he's also sly, diabolical, and quite good at pulling off cruel pranks. He's the perfect fit, really.
    HISTORY:
Lucinda Carrow empathically proclaimed how easy Amycus II was to care for from the very moment he was born at every opportunity that arose. Unfortunately for the nanny who actually took care of him, that wasn't the case in the slightest. He was an obnoxious, curious, and stubborn little boy from his very first breath. He believed that he should get what he wanted when he wanted it. Which, actually, worked out quite well for him. He was the first born son and heir of the Carrow family and the little witch nannying for them wanted to keep the little family very happy. Fortunately for Alecto, when she arrived in the household, he saw her as a new plaything. A new toy just for him. As the years went by, Alecto became less of a toy and more of a companion. A partner in crime. Someone to get into trouble with. And, of course, someone to play pirates and fairies with. The land of make believe was quite an entertaining one.

Of course, once Amycus left the toddler stage, he was ripped from his first nanny and given to a second nanny. A nanny that was more of a tutor in all things education and etiquette. He was no longer allowed to play with his little sister as much as he wanted, nor was he allowed to play with his nanny who he'd grown quite fond of over time. His new nanny gave into fewer demands and made far more of his own. His new nanny wouldn't let him hold the fork just how he liked, but instead insisted that he told it just so. His new nanny didn't think that playing in the dirt was all right, but instead thought that messing up your nice clothes (as though any of your clothes weren't nice!) was worthy of a spanking. Unsurprisingly, Amycus was not terribly fond of his new nanny.

It was hard to enjoy the days when they were spent with his new nanny. Not to mention, when he did actually get to spend time with his father, Amycus I didn't seem to care that he had a son unless it was news of an accomplishment. It was more of a "tell me everything you've accomplished" time and, if there was not enough accomplishment listed, he would be pushed into activities to prove himself further as a Carrow. As he grew closer to his little sister once again, Amycus couldn't help but wish that he was the one considered a nuisance. He wouldn't mind being the ignored child, not if it meant that he'd be allowed to step out of the spotlight and stop having so many expectations put on him. The fun times in life quickly narrowed down to late at night, after his mother and father had gone to bed, when Alecto would sneak into his room to play make believe games with him.

It wasn't as though Amycus didn't notice that his family wasn't perfect. He noticed, he simply didn't think there was much anyone could do about it. His father couldn't stand being home; his mother couldn't stand being around his father. Just how imperfect their little family was was proven to Amycus at the age of six. Amycus and Alecto were interrupted in the middle of playing in their parents' room -- without permission -- and quickly hid under the bed. As they cowered under the bed, they witnessed a scene which didn't make very much sense to Amycus at the time. His father was rather brutally beating his mother with his bare fists. It was a terrifying scene, certainly, but he was sort of -- detached from it. Had it been the nanny, he might have reacted the way his sister did. As it was, he was capable enough of covering her eyes from the brutality and her mother to smother her cries. Two years later, Lucinda Carrow committed suicide.

Following her death, Amycus became his father's new punching bag. He would be beaten over little things, things that didn't even make sense to him. But, really, it was his father's angry over other things simply being taken out on his flesh. Alecto would frequently be there to witness the beatings, but Amycus was careful to make sure that she didn't get involved. He wouldn't have his little sister beaten as well. Alecto was the one person he truly cared about in the world. He'd protect her, even if there was no one to protect him. The year that Amycus turned eleven was the most terrifying year of his life.

He would be off to Hogwarts the following year, after all, and who would be there to take care of Alecto then? He understood how it worked. His mother was originally the punching bag. When she was gone, he became the punching bag. Without him, there wasn't anyone left except for Alecto. It took him almost the entire year to figure out how to keep his little sister safe in the full year that she wouldn't be with him. In the end, he realized that there was a thread to his father that might work. At Platform 9 3/4, Amycus very quietly informed his father that if he harmed a single hair on Alecto's head, the whole world would know that their mother committed suicide.

It took Amycus quite a while to make true friendships at Hogwarts. For his entire first year, he was wary of everyone who spoke to him. He'd seen enough of the "public persona vs. private persona" to know that people weren't always how they seemed. Trust had never been something that someone could earn easily. Hell, trust was something that it was unlikely he'd ever feel for anyone other than his sister. But not impossible. Simply improbable.

Amycus Carrow continued to distrust the vast majority of the people at Hogwarts as time went by. That's not to say that he didn't acquire friendships from time to time, he simply didn't generally trust those friends. During third year, he acquired his first girlfriend. Not that one could truly call a third year relationship a proper girlfriend. Amycus himself didn't think it was much of a relationship when all that happened was a bit of snogging. It didn't last long, of course, as Amycus grew tired of the girl and broke up with her after a few weeks. She just wasn't all that interesting. That was, actually, the very first and last time that Amycus ever had an official girlfriend. He's preferred casual snogging and sex ever since.

By fifth year, Amycus had made far more enemies than friends. His constant desire to be a complete and utter asshole to the vast majority of his classmates certainly didn't help matters any. Those with lower blood statuses were considered inferior. The same was true of those with less intelligence, too much weight gain, etc. It wasn't that he went out of his way to be the bully of Hogwarts (well, not necessarily, anyway), but he simply didn't go out of his way to avoid being an asshole, either. He's always been more than happy to point out when someone's been a complete idiot or said something that's hilariously dumb. He doesn't mind making a huge joke out of your cheesy romantic conversations that you weren't smart enough to ward.

As a seventh year, Amycus is much the same as he's always been. He's not overly social. He doesn't get along with most of his fellow classmates. He has the select few that he does enjoy the company of and the likelihood that that number will grow is rather... well, unlikely. He's still a big fan of casual snogging (and shagging) and he generally doesn't much care for the girls that he's fooling around with. He's taking far fewer classes. Mostly because he doesn't see the point in taking classes that he's got no interest in. After all, he's got more than enough money to take care of himself after Hogwarts. He's not terribly worried about his future career choices.

    • If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
    • What do you consider your greatest achievement? Mastering the Cruciatus curse. Proceeding to use it on my father when necessary. And when simply needing an outlet for my anger.

    • What is your motto? Giving a fuck is a waste of energy. So, don't.
